Key Laboratory of Biomedical Polymers (KLBMP) of the Ministry of Education

Authorized by the Ministry of Education (P. R. China), the Laboratory of Biomedical Polymers (LBMP) of the Ministry of Education was established at Wuhan University in December 1993, and was approved to upgrade to Key Laboratory of Biomedical Polymers (KLBMP) of the Ministry of Education in September 2003.

The research areas of KLBMP span the breadth of biomedical polymers. Research areas covered include polymers for gene delivery, polymers for drug controlled release, polymers for tissue engineering, nano-biomaterials, intelligent biomaterials and functional biomedical polymers.

LBMP has received many honors recognizing its research. The awards received include National Natural Science Awards (Third Prize in 1999 and Fourth Prize in 1991), Science and Technology Progress Awards from the Ministry of Education (First Prizes in 1999 and 1991), and Natural Science Award of Hubei Province (First Prize in 2006).

With its faculty members actively participating in the graduate educational program and directing multidisciplinary research projects, LBMP provides the graduate and undergraduate students from College of Chemistry and Molecular Sciences with the foundation needed for a meaningful professional career and a lifetime of independent learning to ensure that our graduates are well prepared for future challenges and well placed for a successful and fulfilling future career.

KLBMP actively develops international research collaborations and conducts academic exchanges with scientists from US, France, Singapore, UK, and other countries. Through the years KLBMP has built up a strong partnership with a number of renowned universities and institutes.
